Fire Breaks Out at State Fair of Texas Midway Game Stand

A fire broke out at a balloon-popping game stand on the midway at the State Fair of Texas on Tuesday morning, prompting a quick response from Dallas fire crews who had the blaze extinguished within minutes. Fire officials said the fire was out by 7:26 a.m. and confirmed there were no injuries.
The stand was located along the fair's midway at Fair Park, the historic grounds that have hosted the State Fair of Texas for more than a century. The fair, one of the largest and longest-running state fairs in the country, draws millions of visitors over its run each fall for its food, rides, livestock shows, and the iconic 55-foot Big Tex statue that greets visitors at the entrance.
Fair organizers said the affected area was cordoned off and quickly cleared by emergency crews, and that the rest of the midway continued normal operations with no impact to the fair's schedule. Officials have not yet released a cause for the fire, though midway game stands — many of which use canvas and lightweight materials — are inspected regularly as part of the fair's ongoing safety protocols.
The quick response drew praise from fairgoers on social media, with several noting how rapidly crews arrived on scene. The State Fair of Texas said safety remains its top priority and that it works closely with Dallas fire and police departments throughout the fair's run to ensure rapid response to any incidents.
